Metadata

Metadata is information about the content, rather than information within the content. The author, the creation date of a content are all metadata; its title, text and attached image(s) are not.

For all content, regardless of their content types, you should specify as much metadata as you possibly can. This is done in the 'Metadata' step of the Authoring tab, where, after clicking on the 'edit' link, you will see a list of fields for which you can specify some values specific to the content.
