Automatic assignment and locking

When you create a content item, it is automatically assigned and locked, so you can edit it right away. If you need to do this manually

You can only edit content items which have been assigned and locked to/by you. Note: when you create a content item, the item is automatically assigned and locked, so you can edit it right away.

Assigning a content item to yourself

To edit a content item, you must have been assigned the 'Authoring' task of that item. This may be done by another user (an Editor, a Publisher, or an Administrator). You also have the possibility to assign the item to yourself. To do this:

Locking a content item

Once you have assigned a content item to yourself, you should 'lock' it. That way you will take control of the item, and nobody else will be able to edit it at the same time. To do this:
